Non-Trucking Liability
Insurance For The Independent Contractors
When you are under the direction, control and/or dispatch of the motor carrier you are leased to, the motor carriers liability insurance is in force. When you drive your truck to the truck wash on the weekend, or use it for moving some furniture for a friend, you are not covered for liability by the motor carriers policy. In order to be covered when you are driving your truck for personal convenience you need a Non-Trucking Liability insurance policy.
Non Trucking Liability covers you as the owner and operator of the insured truck for bodily injury or property damage to a third party when you are operating your insured truck for your personal convenience, outside the scope of the motor carriers control or direction, and with no economic benefit to you or the lease company.
The description of coverage is general and intended only to summarize the type of insurance, and not the terms and conditions of the insurance. For details of the actual terms and conditions of coverage, please refer to the actual policies.
